Mugenzi Jean Leon is a biochemist, molecular biologist (MSc) and entomologist trained at the University of Buea, Cameroon. His doctoral research focused on the transcriptional regulation of genes mediating insecticide resistance in the major malaria vectors. He is currently a postdoc at the Centre for Research in Infectious Diseases (CRID) where he works on a project funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to understand the dynamics of insecticide resistance and design molecular tools to track resistance in malaria vectors in the field. This involves using genomics and transcriptomics and functional genomic approaches to answer these questions.
